National caravanning week comes to a close
Article Published On 1 June 2007
Launched in 2001 as a way to promote camping and caravanning in the UK, the week gives enthusiasts the chance to meet up and share their passion.
Throughout the week, caravan retailers up and down the country have been offering deals and offers to encourage people to try caravanning for the first time. Experienced caravanners have also been organising their own events and visiting new sites.
Caravan meets were also organised to coincide with the event, including rallies in Durham, west Kent and Wales.
To coincide with the festivities, the consumer watchdog Which? came out in support of caravanning. The company offered potential caravanners some useful advice, including using online sites to compare hire prices for caravans and taking time to plan a route before setting off.
Lorna Cowan, the editor of Holiday Which? magazine, commented: "The popularity of caravanning is on the up, and not a moment too soon.
"Travelling by motorhome is fun, good value and a great way to see much more of a destination."
