Caravan website scoops award

At the annual TravelMole Web Awards, the Caravan Club's website was awarded the accolade of Top Tour Operator.
A group of tourism executives and international tourism MBA students carefully examined the websites of over 1,400 travel industry organisations and companies and decided the winners based on how effective the sites were, as well as on factors like speed of loading and usability.
Natasha Shane, the Caravan Club's head of e-commerce, accepted the award, saying: "It's all down to usability and accessibility, and we worked very hard with our agency, TMG, to ensure we got it spot on for our one million members."
Since the Caravan Club's website re-launched in November 2006, the site has seen site booking increase by 37 per cent and shop transactions by 41 per cent.
However, this could also reflect the fact that, over the same period, caravanning has undergone a renaissance and now has several celebrity fans - such as Ronnie Wood and Jamie Oliver.
In April, the Caravan Club's website was also recognised at the Memcom Awards.
