Birthday Stone 'rolling' in new caravan

Legendary Rolling Stones and Faces guitarist Ronnie Wood woke up recently to find his wife had given him a slightly unusual 60th birthday present - a beautifully restored, £40,000 gipsy caravan.

The Sun newspaper reports that Wood's wife, Jo, bought the musician the caravan because many members of his family are descended from Romany gipsies.

A source told the paper: "Ronnie rolled out of the house in the morning and burst out laughing when he saw it. He's delighted with the caravan. He has Romany gipsy roots and always said he wanted one.

"He'll spend hours in the caravan. He was joking that he'll have to go on tour this summer in it with Jo.

"The Stones are playing the Isle Of Wight in the summer so he'll have a perfect chance to give it a good road test."

Ronnie Wood is one of a number of musicians who have recently found themselves in possession of a new caravan. Recently, Jay Kay - lead singer of the funk band Jamiroquai - purchased a state-of-the-art motorhome for the summer festival season.
