Children 'distract caravan drivers'

According to LV= General Insurance, nearly eight million UK drivers admit that their children distract them while at the wheel, making it more likely that they could crash.
Similarly, 57 per cent of caravan drivers revealed that they have experienced 'automatic pilot' - arriving at a destination with little memory of how they drove there.
"On today’s busy roads, with 16 per cent of accidents having fatal or serious consequences, it is vital to maintain 100 per cent concentration when behind the wheel," warned Andrew Beard from the insurer.
"It is frightening to think what can happen in the split second when drivers take their mind of the road."
Mr Beard added that people planning a long caravan trip with their children should make sure they are prepared before departing.
"Packing the car with travel games and books before you set off will help to keep the children amused whilst on the move," he explained.
Recently, a leading insurer said that caravan drivers with points on their licence were statistically more likely to have an accident on the road.
"The policy of the business is that people with more points are more likely to have an accident…therefore they carry a greater risk and their premiums are higher," explained a spokesperson for Direct Line.
