Caravanners wish campsite happy 70th birthday

A caravan site in the west Midlands is celebrating 70 years in business, according to reports.

Clent Hills Camping and Caravanning Club Site opened in 1937 and the Bromsgrove Advertiser reports that the owners are planning a number of events to mark the landmark anniversary.

According to the paper, the caravan site has overcome a number of challenges to reach its 70th birthday, including the Second World War and a compulsory purchase order from a local water company.

Now, the site attracts thousands of caravanners and campers every year and people are keen to join in with the birthday celebrations.

Over the up-coming half-term, the site will be running a 'Children's Week' full of fun activities. The main celebrations will be taking place during National Camping and Caravanning Week (May 26th - June 1st).

Philip Swain, a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club described the park, saying: "What a beautifully kept site. We're going back to the Clent Hills Site to explore the rest of the area."
