British weather 'could spoil bank holiday for caravanners'
Article Published On 23 May 2007
The Daily Express reports that the fine weather people in the UK are currently enjoying will not last over the bank holiday weekend, frustrating caravanners who had hoped to use the three-day break to get away in their motorhomes.
Jonathan Powell, senior forecaster for Positive Weather Solutions, told the paper: "A low-pressure system heading for the UK later this week threatens to make the second bank holiday in May a washout.
"Rain and strong winds look set to sweep across the UK on Friday and Saturday, with a slight improvement on Sunday, and with bank holiday Monday seeing a largely dry but overcast day."
If this long weekend is anything like the one earlier this month, the promise of rain is unlikely to put caravanners off making the most the break.
The BBC reported that there was 20 per cent more traffic on the road over the last bank holiday when compared to a normal weekend in May - despite the fact the weather was overcast and rainy.
