Caravan park's planning application rejected

Michael Pearce had hoped to turn land near Nylands Crossroads, Draycott, in to a new caravan park but experienced strong local opposition to the project.
Last month, Sedgemoor District Council's development control committee asked for a site visit to see for themselves what impact the caravan park would have on the local environment.
After the visit, the planners decided to reject the proposal and refuse Mr Pearce's planning application.
Save Open Land in Draycott's (Solid) spokesperson, Sue Wall, told the BBC: "We are so happy that the planning application has been declined.
"We collected 521 signatures objecting to plans to convert the greenfield site and more than 150 letters from individuals who were against the proposal were received by the council's planning department.
"So we are absolutely delighted that our concerns have been listened to."
While this news will disappoint caravanners planning on visiting the county, there are many other beautiful caravan sites in Somerset.
