Caravan 'takes passengers to the skies'

Mr Paterson, who lives in Carlisle, converted an old caravan into the simulator for a charity show, but the machine has now proved so popular it has become permanent.
"Having accumulated a fair bit of flight simulation hardware over the years, I agreed to put it all together as a bit of a one-off for a local charity at a show," Mr Paterson explained on the website astraboy.com.
"I had thought about using an old tent but the opportunity of a flood-damaged caravan came up. After I had cobbled the equipment together, I spotted the odd thing I could improve and before I knew it I started getting carried away."
Mr Paterson has now taken his caravan flight simulator to various local shows, where its quirky design always drew a crowd.
"I can't verify how many people the caravan converted to flight simulation, but I gave out plenty of flight 'sim' related web addresses and was constantly bombarded with questions," he explained.
Despite its mobile capabilities, the caravan flight simulator has now found a permanent home at Carlisle Airport. Airplane enthusiasts can now rent an hour in the caravan at very reasonable rates.
