Health and safety course for caravan park workers

According to Berwick Today, a number of the region's caravan park workers undertook a two-day course in health and safety at Seahouses Holiday Park in Northumbria.
Run by the Caravan Industry Training Organisation (Cito), the course addressed issues of health and safety in the caravan industry, specifically the moving, siting and de-siting of single-unit caravans.
Ken Britton, the owner of the park, told the paper: "The aim of the course was to ensure that workers employed within the holiday park industry know what they are doing when they undertake to move these very large units.
"At Seafield, we work towards an injury free workplace in everything we do. This was a positive training step to ensure that one of the most important jobs on site is always carried out with rigorous regard to safety."
Jenny Pritchard, the chief executive of Cito, added: "There is no single right way to carry out any siting operation, although there may be ways that are definitely unsafe.
"This new course was developed alongside the latest industry guidance on siting practices to make sure that parks put safety right at the top of their agenda."
Many people looking for a quieter caravanning experience are attracted to Seahorses because the site does not have its own bar or entertainment complex. Instead guests can enjoy the park's beautiful grounds and local walks.
