Caravan site 'threatened by Olympic expansion'

The Herts & Essex News reports that residents of the Lee Valley Caravan Park are up in arms after it was revealed that the Lafarge Aggregates mining company may move from its present site and begin operations on the caravan park.
It is believed that the company is being forced to move from its existing site to accommodate the 2012 Olympics - as the canoe course is due to pass close to the current quarry.
However, local residents and caravan owners are concerned that the traffic the company will bring will damage the area and spoil the views.
"I think it's such a shame for Dobbs Weir really because it's such a naturally beautiful site. It will alter the whole outlook and demeanour of the site and be detrimental to the area," Mike Davey, a local caravan user, told the paper.
Peter French, of the Dobbs Weir Action Group, described the move as "a total disgrace".
Lee Valley is a vibrant wetland area and caravan visitors could previously expect to see a variety of wildlife during their stay at the site.
