Caravaners advised to check insurance before visiting Europe
Article Published On 2 May 2007
With weather in the UK forecasted to be uninspiring over the May holiday weekend, many caravaners may decide to head to Europe in search of sun and adventure.
However, consumer website find.co.uk has said that people should always find out if their insurance policy covers them before leaving for Europe.
The website revealed that, while insurers are obliged to provide the minimum insurance required to ensure compliance with the laws governing compulsory insurance in the EU, it is still vital for caravan owners to ensure they have ' foreign use' cover.
"Whatever your overseas motoring plans this summer, make sure you are covered for all the countries you intend to visit and against the eventuality of a breakdown."
According to American Express, two million Brits travelled to Europe over the Easter bank holiday and many of these people chose to get around the continent in a caravan.
