Caravans given extra security measures

A revolutionary new technology which aims to help reduce crime affecting caravans has been launched.

The makers of SmartWater Tracer liquid say that caravan owners who use the anti-theft measure can reduce the chance of seeing their caravan burgled by 56 per cent.

By marking desirable items - such as TVs and golf clubs - with the liquid, caravan owners can ensure they have a chance of recovering their property should it ever be stolen.

The liquid is almost invisible to the naked eye, but shows up under ultra-violet light. This means that caravan owners can mark their property discreetly and permanently.

"Caravans are particularly susceptible to petty theft and burglary as they are infrequently habited and used mostly at weekends," explained Richard Burgess, the director of cover4caravan.co.uk.

"The SmartWater Tracer liquid is therefore a very useful tool for caravan owners wishing to secure valuables such as TVs and microwaves left in the caravan for convenience's sake."

People can even decide to mark their entire caravan with the product, ensuring that any ownership issues can be quickly settled.

Recently, communities in both Cornwall and Cambridgeshire have been hit by a spate of caravan thefts.
