Caravan site of the year revealed

Member of the Caravan Club have revealed their favourite small, privately-owned informal caravan sites in the UK.

At an award ceremony which took place in the House of Commons, Gotrans Certificated Location (CL) in Happisburgh, Norfolk was named Certified Location of the year out of a field of 2,500.

Leader of the opposition David Cameron gave the award to the site's owners, Jimmy and Joyce Gotts.

The award was decided after the members of club were asked to pick their favourite CLs - small, private caravan sites which are often found in rural and picturesque locations.

Gotrans was praised for its warm welcome and superb location, as it is situated just a mile from the dramatic beach at Happisburgh.

"It is good to see this lovely CL honoured once again, following their previous victory in 2002," said Club chairman Bob Black. "We are pleased that their high standards and warm welcome are being rewarded here today."

Joyce Gotts added: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank all Club members who voted for us.

"We have made so many nice friends over the years and look forward to welcoming them and new visitors to this lovely part of East Anglia in the future."

Stoneyways CL, in Woodbridge, Suffolk was awarded the runner-up prize.
