To celebrate and promote British Tourism Week, the Caravan Club organised an event at London's Marriott County Hall Hotel. Over 45 MP attended, including minister of state for culture, media and sport, Tessa Jowell.
At the event, Christopher Rodrigues, the new Chairman of VisitBritain, explained that "tourism is facing growing competition but fortunately it is also facing growing demand".
He pointed out that more and more people were opting to caravan in the UK and that membership of the Caravan Club had never been stronger.
At a similar event in Scotland, over 50 SMPs attended an event sponsored by the club.
Several Scottish MPs also accepted the Caravan Club's invitation to visit a successful caravan park as part of 'Challenge MP Day'.
After visiting the site, Michael Howard, the MP for Folkestone, commented: "'I was very impressed with my visit to the Black Horse Farm Caravan Club Site. It is clearly well-run, popular and very well used. It reflects well on all concerned."
