Caravan owners urged to check their towbars

Expert technicians from towbar specialists Towequipe investigated how towbars were fitted to caravans around the UK and discovered nearly half did not reach regulatory standards'.
Most were found not to be fitted tightly enough, something that could lead to problems in the future.
"This shows just how important regular maintenance checks are," says Cover4Caravans director, Richard Burgess.
"The equipment must be fitted by qualified and experienced personnel in order to ensure that your caravan is being towed safely and securely."
Mr Burgess added that people should always check their caravan's equipment regularly and particularly before a long trip.
"It's not just the towbar fittings that should be revised before setting off on a long journey. Lights and electrical fittings should also be given the once over. This is important not only for your own safety and peace of mind but for that of other road users."
Figures from the National Caravan Council show that the caravan market in the UK is growing at a rate of about five per cent annually.
