Cumbria offers improved facilities for caravan holidays

A new shop catering for the needs of people with caravans in the Lake District has just opened.

The Cumberland News reports that a couple from Manchester moved to the town of Silloth in Cumbria to open a shop selling everything people with caravans could ever want.

Colin Taylor told the paper that "it was something we always wanted to do, but thought it was maybe three or four years down the line."

"We had been to Silloth five or six times and fell in love with the way of life here. With the amount of caravan and camping spots nearby, we were amazed to find that there was nowhere that actually specialised in this business," he added, explaining that people previously had to drive over 60 miles to get basic caravan supplies.

Recently, the local authorities in Cumbria have updated their website to make it easier for visitors, including people with caravans, to find out about the range of outdoors activities available.

Alex McCoskrie from Cumbria Tourism, said that the new site "will make it easier for everyone to use, whether they want to battle Mother Nature on a mountain bike or be at one with their surroundings on a relaxing horse ride."
