Foreign secretary waxes lyrical about caravanning for book

Now, the Telegraph has revealed how the foreign secretary, who has never made a secret of her love of caravan holidays, will attempt to convince others of the appeal of this type of trip.
According to the paper, Mrs Beckett will write: "When it comes to the environment, the caravan is a relatively environmentally friendly way to take your holiday; it gives off only a fraction of the greenhouse gas emissions compared to travelling by air."
Similarly, the politician, whose first caravan holiday while in public office caused a media sensation, will say that caravans should be seen as "a lifestyle choice".
"Travelling in this way allows real spontaneity. You can decide at the last minute to go on a break without having to worry about plane or train tickets or a hotel," she will add.
Mrs Beckett will apparently also name various other famous caravan enthusiasts, including Jamie Oliver and Madonna.
The book in which Mrs Beckett's introduction is to appear will be published in the summer and is set to be called Teach Yourself Caravanning.
The Scotsman recently reported that caravanning now accounts for a 17 per cent share of all UK holidays.
