Margaret Beckett to pen thoughts on caravans

Foreign secretary Margaret Beckett is set to pen the introduction to a book about one of her favoured pastimes: holidaying with a caravan.

The politician has agreed to write a foreword of Teach Yourself Caravanning by Rob McCabe, which is set to be released by Hodder this summer.

A spokesperson for Ms Beckett said she was "delighted" to contribute to the book.

"She was very happy to do it because caravanning has given her so much pleasure and she hopes others will be able to get the same enjoyment from it," the representative told Scotland on Sunday.

Teach Yourself Caravanning, which has been endorsed by the Caravan Club, addresses all issues related to this type of holiday, including choosing the best caravan for your needs and budget, as well as driving, camping and maintenance tips and ideas for caravan holidays in the UK and abroad.

Ms Beckett is joined as a member of the Caravan Club by celebrities such as EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer, Take That heartthrob Mark Owen, designers Colin and Justin and model Nell McAndrew.
