Caravan park scoops conservation accolade

The Deer's Glade park caravan park near Cromer has been awarded the David Bellamy gold award for conservation after beginning life just two seasons ago, reports the Norfolk Eastern Daily Press.
The site, which can cater for 100 caravans and 25 tents, received the award for features such as 4,000 newly planted trees, the use of low energy light bulbs and the installation of an on-site sewerage plant and water-saving toilets.
The Attew family, who run the park, decided to diversify from farming after it became increasingly hard to make a good living.
"I was always very keen on wildlife conservation, and have targeted the site at people who want to enjoy a quiet country park," said owner Mike Attew, whose son, David, runs the site.
"We have not added the bar and restaurant in the original plans for that reason."
The site has also been granted five-star status by the British Tourist Board.
