Fleetwood Caravans
A well established caravan manufacturer, Fleetwood caravans have over 40 years experience. They produce some of the most ascetically pleasing and luxurious caravans available spread across their three model ranges; Fleetwood Sonata, Fleetwood Meridien and Fleetwood Heritage.
With their 2008 range Fleetwood caravans are definitely a major competitor in the UK caravan market producing some of the most unique and modern caravans available today. There are 3 ranges; Sonata, Meridien and Heritage
Fleetwood Sonata - Fleetwood have linked up with caravan manufacturer, Adria and as a result the Fleetwood Sonata caravan range is now broadly based on the Adria vans.
There are a variety of sizes and layouts to choose from.
There are two 4-berth models; the Sonata Rhapsody or fixed bed Nocturne. The Melody is a 5-berth with seats at the front which convert to a double bed and then at the rear a double dinette with fitted Pullman bunk overhead.
The Sonata Prelude is a 6 berth and has a sliding rear door which leads to a separate bedroom or children's area with fixed bunk beds. The Sonata Symphony, 6 berth is a single axle van. At the rear it has a fixed double longitudinal bed with ensuite washroom with toilet and shower. Up front U-shaped day seating converts to another double bed with the remaining two beds in the side dinette.
Fleetwood Meridien - this mid-range includes 2, 4 and 6 berth models.
Whilst they have good specifications their medium to heavy weight means you'll need a BMW 3 Series touring or Kia Sportage or similar for the 480 and 520 models or a Mercedes E-class estate or Nissan Murano or similar for the Meridien 560 models.
The Meridien 480-2 is a good, spacious two-berth Clubman. In both the 480-2 and the 2 berth Meridien 520-EB, the forward two day seats can easuly be converted into 2 twin beds or a large double bed.
The 4 berth Meridien 560-I has an island bed at the rear, even though it is a single axle caravan.
The Meridien 640-EKB is new for 2008. It is a twin axle, 6 berth caravan and ideal for families. The living space is good and the l-shaped rear kitchen really is spacious.
Fleetwood Heritage - the top end of the Fleetwood caravan range, the Heritage offers varied layouts coupled with quality equipment and furnishings.
The Heritage twin-axle 640-ES has been the most popular model over recent years. There are varied layouts to suit needs from the 640-ES(D) with front parallel seats that convert to a transverse double, the Heritage 640-ES(T) which has the seats converting to single beds, the 640-ES(6) accommodating 6 berths and the 640-I which features a fixed 'island' double bed.
Other models are the 4 berth Heritage 640-CB and 640-EB albeit many use them as luxuriously spacious 2-berths.
There is also the ever popular single-axle 4-berth 560-4, with a double bed made at the front from the L-shaped seating.
The Heritage 490-2 has been improved and re-launched. The improvements include a redesigned washroom with shower and good-sized wardrobe area.
The Heritage 530-3 is a new 3 berth, single axle caravan. Seating in the dinette area converts to a single bed. There is also the option for a Pullman Bunk over this.
